Route map

220km (approx)
The Association Rhône-Alpes des Amis de St-Jacques have developed a route from the Geneva-Le Puy route at Gillonnay near Côte St André via St Antoine l'Abbaye to Valence and St Péray. Here there is a choice of route, west to Le Puy, or south down the Rhône valley to Arles,a route also known as the Via Rhodana.
A variant from Grenoble joins the route just south of Gillonnay.
As a variant from Pont St Esprit, Martine Piquet has written a Guide pratique et approche historique du chemin de Saint-Gilles et de Saint-Jacques de Compostelle (295265560X, 2006, €12, see Languedoc-Roussillon Amis) which follows Künig von Vach's Oberstrasse, from Pont St Esprit via Uzès to Nimes; it then continues to St Gilles (100km). Nimes city council has marked a Chemin Romieu through the city centre.
