Route map

This route from the Panissars pass to Montserrat leaves the Via Augusta at Girona, and turns inland to Vic and then southwest to Montserrat; there are also spurs from the important 9th-century monastery of Sant Pere de Rodes, and from Olot. This route is being promoted by the Catalan government, and also by the Amics in Girona, A guide is now available to buy or download from the Catalan government, and a guide to the route is also being created at Mundicamino.
Note that the Catalan government route differs from the Girona Amics/Mundicamino route between El Pasteral and Vic, with the government route taking a more northerly line whereas the latter follows a more direct route along the Ter river.
Anyone wanting to follow the Via Augusta from Girona to the Barcelona area can use the Via Augusta path also created by the Catalan government.
